Characters in the books often comment on James's personality,
about which Rowling comments that "there was a lot of good in James."

James Potter is currently fifteen sixteen years old, in his fifth sixth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and a Chaser as well as Captain for the Gryffindor Quidditch team.

He enjoys playing pranks, taking the piss out of people, and being the best at everything. He can also be a bit of an arrogant toerag at times. (Just ask Lily!) Though he is quickly growing out of this.

His best friends are Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew; they also call themselves the Marauders. He fancies Lily Evans and isn't exactly secretive about it is now dating the girl of his dreams: Lily Evans.

He's got black hair and brown eyes, wears glasses, stands straight and tall (with a penchant for slouching just because he can), and is often found with either a Snitch or a Quaffle in-hand. Unless otherwise stated, one can assume he's always in his Hogwarts uniform.
